AU Dining implemented a new service, called Tapingo, at the start of the fall semester that allows students to order on-campus food options for pickup. Tapingo is a Grubhub-owned business that started in San Francisco in 2011, and all students have to do to use the service is download the app.
Megabytes Cafe closed on Nov. 1 following several social media videos that showed rats digging through food and scampering across window sills in the campus cafe. Now, AU spokesperson Mark Story said that the dining establishment is expected to remain closed for the “foreseeable future” as the University completes repairs on the facility.
After students shared multiple videos on social media depicting rodents in the Megabytes Café, a university spokesperson said the cafe will be closed effective at 9 p.m. on Nov. 1 and will not reopen until AU has “sufficient time to develop a remediation plan.”
At the beginning of the fall semester, small posters appeared on bulletin boards in the Katzen Arts Center. Their purpose: to advertise the new five-year degree music and education program offered through the Department of Performing Arts and the School of Education.
