In her nearly four years at AU, women’s basketball senior guard Emily Kinneston has only had one Thanksgiving dinner at home. It included industrial-size serving trays, dozens of folding chairs and enough mashed potatoes to feed an entire Division I basketball team, coaching staff, medical personnel, sports information directors and bus driver.

Alum Andre Ingram signed to play for the Los Angeles Lakers for the remainder of the season on Monday, according to a memo released by the team. Ingram is the second AU alum to play for an NBA team; Kermit Washington, class of 1973, played in the NBA from 1973-1988.

The women’s lacrosse team fell behind early on a chilly day at Jacobs Field and were never able to recover, suffering their fifth straight loss 19-7 to Boston University Saturday. The Terriers (5-6, 2-3 PL) scored 24 seconds into the game and built a 5-goal lead 10 minutes into the game behind their dominance in the face-off circle.

American University will host the 43rd National Collegiate Taekwondo Association (NCTA) Championships in Bender Arena the weekend of April 6-8. AU earned the right to host the tournament after the volunteer coaches, Miyako Yerick and Masters Richard-Duane Chambers and Ryan Huang, from the AU Taekwondo Club submitted a bid on behalf of the school.

No. 3 UCLA crushed No. 14 AU’s hopes of playing in the NCAA Tournament’s second round Saturday afternoon. The Bruins defeated the Eagles 71-60 in Los Angeles, ending AU’s historic season.

The top-seeded AU women's basketball team beat Lafayette 55-35 in the Patriot League quarterfinal Monday evening. The Eagles (24-6, 17-2 PL) will now face Army West Point in the semifinal game on Thursday night in Bender Arena.

The AU women’s lacrosse team had good spirit on Friday against Central Michigan, cheering their teammates on from the sidelines and yelling out instructions to help the Eagles jump out to an early lead. The team plummeted, however, during the second half, losing their second game of the season to Central Michigan 12-10 at Jacobs Field.

By the time redshirt senior Brett Dempsey took the mat at Bender Arena for the final time in his career, the AU wrestling team was already guaranteed a dual meet victory over Ohio. The 26th ranked heavyweight was determined, though, to end his home career with a victory.

The AU women’s basketball team put together another strong team performance Wednesday, widening their lead at the top of the Patriot League standings. The Eagles beat Loyola Maryland 69-56 on Wednesday in Bender Arena. Senior forward Michael Harris and senior guard Emily Kinneston led the team in points, helping AU claim their 13th win in a row.
