After a season in which she led the Eagles to a 6-3 record, junior women’s basketball guard Jade Edwards was honored Wednesday, bringing home her first First Team All-Patriot League and Patriot League All-Defensive Team awards. Though she entered into the Player of the Year conversation, the nod ultimately went to Lafayette senior forward Natalie Kucowski, who also won Defensive Player of the Year.

AU wrestlers Tim Fitzpatrick (174 pounds) and Gage Curry (125 pounds) both finished in third place at the EIWA Championships Friday and will now advance to the NCAA Championships. Fitzpatrick, a redshirt sophomore, went 3-1 before placing third due to Lehigh wrestler Jake Logan’s medical forfeit. Fitzpatrick was seeded seventh to open the day and improved from last year's tournament, where he finished eighth.

With the fewest games played in the Patriot League this season, the American University men’s basketball team was expected to be ineligible for the postseason tournament this year as recently as Wednesday. When the Patriot League announced Thursday that it was expanding the tournament to its usual format with all 10 teams, the Eagles stood last in the standings. But after completing their sweep over Bucknell (4-6) this weekend with a dominant 81-68 victory at Bender Arena, the Eagles (4-5) were able to move all the way up and clinch the fifth seed. For head coach Mike Brennan, the absurdity of the last few days have been a testament to his team's resilience in what has already been a bizarre season for his players.

These losses come after almost a month off, and an unquestionable lack of experience hurt the Eagles — they have played only six games this season.
