‘Voyagers’ presents a strange, unsettling view of the future

“Voyagers” is draped in a blue tint and surrounded by a classic sci-fi score that presents an illusion that something deeper is happening on screen than what the film actually gives its audience. While it raises some interesting questions that humans are likely to face in the future, “Voyagers” does not explore them in a meaningful way.

“Film About a Father Who” opens on Ira Sachs, the filmmaker’s father, flinching as a comb works through his long and wiry hair. In this frame, Ira is an unknown elderly man who looks tired, harmless and boring. As the documentary untangles the web of adventure, women and children that make up his life, he proves to be quite the opposite. 


“Studio 54” reveals unsung emotions from the 70s club’s rise and demise

“Studio 54” recounts the vibrant life and scandalous death of Studio 54 through the owners’ journey from beloved revolutionaries to criminals. While the written history of the 1970s nightclub tells us about abuse of power and greed, the documentary, “Studio 54,” reveals another story; one of emotional turbulence and being the victim of one’s own success.


‘I Feel Pretty’ teaches us to love (and laugh at) ourselves

Despite the fact she was not involved in the direction, writing or production of this movie, the role of Renee in “ I Feel Pretty” was made for Amy Schumer. “I Feel Pretty” relays a positive message about self-love in a funny and relatable way. It is not particularly inspiring or empowering, but Schumer’s character shows that confidence is everything.
