October DEI Report: DEI group announces audio narrations on website
The Eagle’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee recently added audio narrations to all stories for increased accessibility.
The group has also made changes in the publication of DEI updates, modifying the schedule to monthly reports. The committee used to publish updates biweekly after every DEI meeting.
The group announced the creation of an equity guide, a new initiative which they hope will help improve reporting, interviewing and editing skills for The Eagle staff. The comprehensive guide will also lay out best practices for equitable reporting.
On Oct. 20, The Eagle launched its TikTok account (@theeagleonline). The DEI committee brainstormed on how to balance humorous and informative content. The Eagle launched their first Weekly Wrapped video, a 60-second summary of articles published throughout the week, on Oct. 23.
