Unarmed carjacking in Tenleytown latest in a string of crime

AU Alert issued to campus community

A pizza delivery man was the victim of an unarmed carjacking outside of Domino’s Pizza in Tenleytown Thursday afternoon, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

AU Police also issued an alert about the crime, but misstated that the incident involved an armed carjacker, said Kelly Alexander, AU’s director of public relations. The carjacker was unarmed, an MPD spokesperon confirmed.

The delivery person was placing a parcel in his car at about 12:30 p.m. when the assailant “pushed him down” and stole the victim’s car, an MPD press release said. The suspect is described as a 25- to 30-year-old bald Latino male, standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and black pants.

Police advised residents to look out for a purple Toyota Corolla with Maryland license plates that read “9CT3935.”
