Two Eagle runners qualify for NCAA Championship

Two-time defending Patriot League champion Brendan Fennell and teammate Steve Hallinan qualified Saturday for the NCAA Cross Country Championships after placing in the top 10 of the Mid Atlantic Regional, leading the Eagles to a fourth-place overall finish in the race.

Fennell finished fifth individually in the meet with a time of 30:25, while Hallinan, the 2005 PL Individual Champion, came in seventh, only 4 seconds behind Fennell's pace.

As a team, the Eagles finished behind regional champion Georgetown, Villanova and Princeton. While only the first two teams automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, AU still has a chance at one of 13 at-large bids to be named on Sunday.

The NCAA Cross Country Championship meet will be held Nov. 19 at Indiana State University.
