Guide to DC markets

This is just a sampling of the many farmers and craft markets in D.C. throughout the year. Each has its own special flavor, and most offer both food and art for browsing. For more local markets, check out www.freshfarmmarkets.org.

Eastern Market is the one of the only operating historic fresh food market remaining in D.C. Saturday is the farmers' market and the market festival, an arts and crafts fair. It features fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, meats and dairy products as well as homemade jewelry, arts and crafts. Sunday is the flea market featuring everything from artwork and antiques to carpentry and crafts. The farmers' market, market festival and flea market are certainly worth the trip to see this beautiful, historic area of D.C.

Western Market is located in the heart of the diverse and cultural Adams Morgan neighborhood and features homemade crafts from local artisans and fair trade vendors. The market includes photography, paintings, jewelry, hand bags, clothing, pottery, home decor and many more unique items from this ethnic neighborhood in D.C. The Western Market is only three Metro stops away from AU and is a great excuse to visit eclectic Adams Morgan.

The Bethesda Farmer's Market features fresh, homegrown fruits, vegetables and breads from local farmers and is only two Metro stops away from AU. The Market also features live music in the summer with their final concerts on Aug. 8 and Aug. 15. Check out its Web site for more information.

The Dupont Circle Farmers' Market, one of four FRESHFARM markets in the D.C. area, was named by The Wall Street Journal as one of the top farmers' markets in the country. The Washingtonian magazine credits the market with "teaching Washingtonians to love their fruits and vegetables." More than 30 farmers sell fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, meat, poultry, fish, bread, pastries, pasta, plants and flowers along with homemade soaps and herbal goods. This Farmers' Market proudly represents Dupont Circle's vibrant and diverse atmosphere at its best and is only four Metro stops away from AU.


Section 202 host Gabrielle and friends go over some sports that aren’t in the sports media spotlight often, and review some sports based on their difficulty to play.
