Sports brief: Crew brings home gold from Virginia competition

AU rowing finished its season with a gold medal and a fourth-place finish at the Head of the Occoquan race Sunday.

The Eagles took first in the Men's Novice 4 division, a classification for 4-man boats for first-year rowers, finishing the 5,000-meter course in 20:17.95.

"These guys came a long way since September," said Novie Men's Coach William Beck in a statement.ÿ We accomplished what we set out to do, at our last head race of the season, which was to win."

AU's fourth place finish came in the Women's Novice 8, where the Eagles clocked in at 20:45.95.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
