Throughout our nation's glorious history, we have developed the cheeseburger, jet ski, all-you-can-eat buffet, and most importantly ass-kickin, sports rivalries. We at The Eagle are presenting, the Top 10 sports rivalries. The kind of rivalry where any fan wearing the visiting teams colors will most likely end up in the hospital.

10. New York Yankees vs. New York Mets The subway series dates back to 1941, when any of the three teams in New York (Giants, Dodgers, Yankees) at that time would meet in the postseason. This rivalry was rekindled in 1997 when Major League Baseball brought back interleague play that allowed the Mets and Yankees to meet in the regular season. In the 2000 World Series this rivalry exploded when Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens and Mets catcher Mike Piazza incited a bench-clearing brawl.

9. Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins Year after year the NFC East is fiercely close and competitive, leading to multiple rivalries within the confrence. The close proximity of these two teams and the rambunctous nature of fans from both sides leads to imminent lawless action.

8. Detroit Red Wings vs. Colorado Avalanche Ever since the Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado in 1996, they have engaged in a heated rivalry with the Red Wings for dominance in the Western Conference.
