After the college basketball transfer portal opened on March 18, five American women’s basketball players entered, according to The Next Hoops. The group includes senior guards Kayla Henning and Anna LeMaster, senior forwards Emily Johns and Marisa Lee and sophomore forward Molly Lavin. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many athletes have an extra season of eligibility.

Student-athletes representing all eight American University women’s sports teams led clinics for children on Jan. 20. The clinics took place after an AU women’s basketball game. After getting autographs from the athletes, the kids rotated between stations where they learned skills from women’s soccer, field hockey, cheer & dance, swim & dive, cross country and track and field, lacrosse, volleyball and basketball.

The American University wrestling team (4-3) defeated the Davidson Wildcats (0-3) by an overall score of 31-7. The Eagles were all in as they won eight of the 10 bouts in their most dominant win of the season so far. The win secured American’s first home winning streak since January 2020.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating “a theft involving a threat of force/violence” that took place Wednesday at 12 p.m. in front of the Ace Beverage Fine Wines and Spirits located at 3301 New Mexico Ave. NW, according to an email Assistant Vice President for University Police & Emergency Management Phil Morse sent to the University community.

The American University field hockey team (11-8) fell to the #3 Duke Blue Devils (18-4) in the first round of the NCAA tournament. With this loss, their season ends and they are out of contention for the NCAA Championship.

The #1 seeded American University field hockey team (11-7) defeated the #2 Lafayette Leopards (12-7) 1-0 to win the Patriot League Championship. After falling in the semifinals last year, the Eagles returned to the top of the league.
