Men’s head soccer coach Todd West parts ways with AU athletics

The AU athletic department declined to renew men’s soccer head coach Todd West’s contract last week, according to a department press release. West, who served as head coach for 19 seasons and led the team to nine Patriot League finals and three NCAA tournament appearances, said that he was “surprised” by the department’s decision.

Harrison Browne spent six years having two identities. He was Hailey Browne, the gay athlete trying to get through college, and he was Harrison Browne, the trans man who was trying to find his place in the world with his true identity. These identities affected the one thing he loved more than anything in the world: hockey. He kept his true identity a secret throughout college because it would put his hockey scholarship in jeopardy.





Opinion: Dinesh D’Souza event degrades quality of academic dialogue at AU

Recently, fake historian Dinesh D'Souza was invited to speak on campus. Although the event was pretty sparsely attended, protesters did show up to the event. Many critics decried the protesters as opposing free speech. They were not opposing free speech, because no one is obligated to a platform to spread your views. Further, they were acting academically responsible, opposing the introduction of views that are false into an academic setting.

Today, the period of Notice and Comment has opened for Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos’ proposed changes to Title IX. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has announced that she wants to codify her letter into law, sweeping the problem of sexual violence on college campuses under the rug. Her proposal is an insult to survivors who already have to cope with the trauma of facing sexual violence and will now have to face an unequal, unjust system that is designed for them to fail.
