While AU, Georgetown and George Washington Universities have all experienced conflicts with neighbors regarding off-campus student parking, AU is the only school that has chosen to ticket its students for parking on residential streets.

One AU student knew the risks of parking on the street but decided to chance it anyway. Another thought he was in the clear after purchasing a residential parking permit from the city, and a third was parked in front of her own house. However, these students all received tickets from AU’s Department of Public Safety.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will expand cell phone service in its 20 busiest underground stations by Oct. 16, allowing riders using AT&T Inc., Sprint Nextel Corporation, Deutsche Telekom AG -- commonly known as T-Mobile -- and Verizon Communications Inc. to make and receive calls and text messages.
