A friend of mine once equated sex to a cup of coffee. In Europe, he said, it is customary to have a shot of espresso before indulging in a cup. One thing must come after the first; there is a schedule to love-making. I've been thinking about this quite a bit. I think I know from where it stems. It's got to be from porno, right?

I often stare at the ceiling fan in my room. Each wooden plank revolves around the center light, and although dust collects rather frequently on it, I enjoy watching the simplicity of each rotation. This fan reminds me of my life: how it often gets crazy and then slows to such immaculate cycles. Right now, like my fan, I am a little unpredictable. I am planning on graduating in December, and it seems as though things have piled above my head. I might not be able to find my way out.

Since I first began writing this column a year ago, many people have asked for advice in the sack. They want to know what they can do to make the experience more pleasurable for their partner. Are there certain activities they should do to enhance the act? What about music? All of these questions will be answered here. This is your guide to sexual bliss.

I noticed a little girl at the grocery store the other day. She caught my attention immediately. Wearing a tiny green jacket and bright purple pants, she was skipping between the lines of the parking spaces in the lot outside of the store. Watching her brought me back to the days of innocence - to my first love - and away from the lines at the checkout.

This story is mortifying.

Gambling, gambling and gambling. That's what I did on Friday night at Mohegan Sun, a casino located in upstate Connecticut. My friends and I wanted to do something different, and really reach for the edge, so we bundled up and hit the road with all the money we could afford. I brought $150, Sam $200, Johnny $100 and Ian $120. After praying for an hour on our way up for good fortune, we arrived with merry hearts and high hopes.

There's a particular boy I've had a crush on since I came to AU. I will not tell his name because, to be honest, I don't know it. I've been introduced to him only once, and when we spoke, I couldn't find the words to show him how interested I was.

My sister is three years older than I. Her curfew was later, but she rarely took advantage of it. She also drove first and was able to legally drink before I could. Throughout my life, I admit that I haven't been the kindest of sisters, and neither has she. Our relationship has been in turmoil since I turned 12. Although we have both done our share of wrongs, my sister and I don't have the courage to just talk straight.

It all started on a public bus in D.C. It was around 8 p.m. on a weekday, and I sat down with my books and tried to occupy myself by staring out the window. A man around my age got on the bus and strategically placed himself in the seat across from mine. Our eyes connected for a split second, and then he spoke.

I get lonely, especially around Valentine's Day. February is the time of year when couples are everywhere, and it seems as if us singles are nowhere to be found. These thoughts occupy my mind, as those in relationships cherish their love, and those that are single may feel left out.

A good friend of mine hasn't been on a date in more than five years. He's 25 years old. I met another man at the bar this weekend who's 26. He rarely leaves the house. Both stay home at night, playing video games, watching movies and sulking. When I asked them why they don't go out and meet people, they both spoke about hierarchies of individuals, stating that they fall at the bottom of the list.

What would you do if you ran into an ex of yours in the middle of the street? Would you walk up to him and give a cordial kiss or hug, ask how he are doing and then walk away? Or would you sit with him and stay up for all hours of the night, reminiscing and talking of times lost?

Joe is a man I met at the airport; Jane is his wife, whom he ordered from Russia. While traveling through airports over break I met him, an electrician from Phoenix who went looking for love in an unusual place.

I first met Sandra five years ago in a restaurant I work at. She was 34 years old then, with two children, and was dedicating herself to becoming a nurse at the local hospital. She was one of those women in my life that I looked up to. We'd discuss politics, celebrities, our own trivial lives and the imaginary lives of the customers we encountered.

I've lived in D.C. for over a year now, and so far my friends and I have been witness to about 18 burglaries, one attempted car-jacking, another attempted assault, along with other threats such as the sniper attacks and an anthrax scare. On top of the usual terrorism scares, this past week brought about attacks to students on campus and I must admit that I am a little afraid - not necessarily that I'm in danger all the time, but rather that things aren't as simple as they are when I'm home in the suburbs. It's apparent that people need to know how to defend themselves from whoever may pose a threat.

Looking on the Internet the other day I stumbled upon a site filled with people looking for their soul mates. Various people of all ages and races place ads on the Internet in hopes that somebody will "find" them and they will live happily ever after. Although that may not be the case for everyone, Internet dating does offer a wide array of opportunities for singles.

I went to Georgetown the other day and was baffled at one woman's beauty. A natural blonde, her long hair swung slowly to her shoulders and her outfit exemplified the organic nature of her spirit. She stood at the corner of the road, and although I never spoke to her, I could feel her essence as she stood still, waiting for the light to change.

"So what's with stealing my panties?" I thought as I discovered more and more of my belongings tucked away in her room.

I am not a member of the Mile High Club, but I know many people who are. It's not as though I don't want to "do it" in the bathroom stall of an airplane. I just haven't had anybody to "do it" with when it was possible. It seems to me that having sex in forbidden places is making a comeback.

Looking through the paper the other day I was baffled by an employment opportunity that guaranteed $1,000 to $5,000 a week. Of course, I found it in the "Adult Employment" section (we all peek sometimes) and it involved working in a massage parlor.
