Tyler Bowders

SG president candidate

Tyler Bowders, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences from Waynesboro, Pa., said he wants to improve the presence of SG on campus as president.

“People on this campus don’t necessarily believe in SG, and I’m running on a platform to get people to not only believe in AU but to believe in SG and to believe in me,” he said.

If elected, he wants to loosen the internship requirements for students who need it for their majors, keep tuition increases minimal and raise awareness about sexual assault prevention, he said. Bowders currently serves as the executive director of Queers and Allies.

“It is my proposal to develop a workshop that talks about how sexual assault can be prevented,” he said. “And a part of that is also going to be the development of a student hotline that the Wellness Center would host for immediate assistance for survivors.”

Like many other college students, Bowders said he loves watching Netflix, especially “Parks and Recreation.”
