Sometimes, we really do have issues

By Jen Calantone

Eagle staffers have a tendency to measure their semesters in issues. Right now, we’re heading into the seventh one of the year—putting us, apparently, somewhere in the fifth week of classes. It’s amazing how fast the year is moving. I suppose then, it’s about time I start updating the recently-unveiled “We Have Issues” blog. This is, essentially, a place for me, the editor in chief, to talk about all-things-Eagle. I’m here to respond to your questions, concerns, frustrations—what have you.

This past issue, we brought back the wildly popular (and often, wildly inappropriate) Eagle Rants feature. For anyone who is unfamiliar with Eagle Rants,  it is basically an outlet for our readers to anonymously submit the things that irk them. In this issue, we’ve had a whole bunch of allusions to the infamous Kayne West interruption, as well as some interesting declarations of love, pleas for more attractive people on AU’s campus and a few stabs at the Student Government (sorry, guys).

Of course, along with creating a place for people to complain anonymously with hopes of seeing one’s rants in print, we have also, apparently, created an avenue for a handful of people who rant about how much they hate The Eagle. I’m not at all opposed to criticism, trust me—but I’d love to turn those rants about our shortcomings into something productive. So please, if you have real criticisms about the paper, our content or anything Eagle-related, I really (honestly) encourage you to bring them to me. I’d be happy to talk to anyone about what they think we can do better. That’s part of the reason why this blog exists.

So please, reconsider ranting if you have a real concern or criticism regarding The Eagle and send them my way .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Of course, if you like what we’re doing, I’d also love to hear from you. I plan on addressing our readers’ concerns through this blog, so give me your worst. Understand that we’re students, just like most of you—we’re prone to making mistakes. Your suggestions can make a serious difference in how we do things over here, so please keep them coming.
