Kate Nash w/ Supercute! - Black Cat - March 23, 9 p.m., $15
Envying all of your friends abroad in the UK? Get a taste of Great Britain with Kate Nash March 21 at the Black Cat.
Nash’s sound has evolved from her first album, “Made of Bricks”. She continues making girl-power-rock with her new album “Girl Talk.” However, she’s moved to a darker—- but still fun—- sound. Her sweet, soft voice is still present, but her musical style varies from soft-spoken ballads to sassier rap songs about women’s empowerment with a bit more screaming than her previous works. Fans of Lily Allen or Regina Spektor will appreciate Nash’s brash Brit pop style.
Joining Nash will be Supercute!, a bubbly New York indie pop band composed of teenage girls. Though it has yet to release an album, Supercute! has played at SXSW and the Museum of Modern Art, among many other gigs. Supercute! will release its first album “DON’T PoP MY BUBBLE,” produced by Nash, on June 11.
