Pitching Matchups: Scott Olsen (3-3, 4.12 ERA) vs. Chris Volstad (5-8, 4.63 ERA)

Update 7:07 First pitch from Scott Olsen to Hanley Ramirez was a strike. Check back here for periodical updates on tonight’s game.

Update 7:24 How would I best describe the top of the first for Scott Olsen? To quote Jay Sherman of The Critic, “It stinks!” Olsen gave up four runs and gave up four hits in a row, five total for the inning.

Update 7:38 An RBI single from Ryan Zimmerman gets the Nationals on the board but they still need to dig themselves out of a hole. They trail 4-1 after just one inning.

Update 8:01 OK, so Strasburg was bad last night, but he wasn’t really THIS bad. Here’s the final pitching line for Olsen: 1.2 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

Update 8:42 In the bottom of the third the Nationals added a run with an ian Desmond solo shot. The Nationals now trail by a score of 8-2. Bad coule of nights for the Nats starting pitching.

Update 9:22 While Olsen was clearly worse, Volstad didn’t exactly shut dow the Nationals. It is now 8-4, a game that is still just a grand slam away from being knotted up. Here’s the pitching line for Volstad: 5 IP, 8 H 4 R 4 ER 1 BB 2 K
