In the Jan. 13 Eagle article “It’s all Greek,” The Eagle mistakenly referred to Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship as “a Christian fraternity” that “brings together students through faith.” While we appreciate being recognized as a presence on this campus, we would like to make it clear that Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship is not associated with Greek life in any way. Our name actually comes from a Bible verse, 2 Corinthians 5:20, which says, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors.” The XA comes from the Greek letters for “Christ’s ambassadors.” It is our goal to be ambassadors of God’s love to American University.
We realize that the Greek letters in our name may be misleading, but it is important to note that Chi Alpha has no membership, pledging or dues. Anyone is welcome at any Chi Alpha event, no matter his or her religious background or lack thereof. Check out our Web site (http://www.auchialpha.org) or come by any of our meetings to find out what it’s all about.
President, Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship
