Russian actors to perform comedies at Greenberg Theatre
In its first United States performance since 1993, Volkov Theatre of Yaroslavl, Russia, will perform three classic Russian comedic plays at AU’s Greenberg Theatre at the end of May.
This will be the only performance of the famed group in the United States. It last performed in the United States in Burlington, Vt., and since has toured in places like Paris; Prague, Czech Republic; Budapest, Hungary; Bratislava, Slovakia, and Berlin. Recently, they toured in Finland, Denmark and Norway. And just last year it toured in Eqypt.
The three comedies, all performed in Russian, are “Even a Wise Man Stumbles,” “The Coriscan Fury” and “The General Inspector.” All of which highlight morality, love, marriage, trials and tribulation of life intermixed in humor.
The performance was made possible with the Russian Embassy and the Russian Cultural Center in conjunction with AU.

Students, faculty and staff to help plant flowers, trees during Campus Beautification Day on April 14
AU will hold its annual Campus Beautification Day on April 14. Students, faculty and staff will lay mulch and plant trees and flowers around campus, according to Katherine Kirlin, co-director of the event.
Campus groups and clubs have adopted spots on campus to clean and do various sorts of yard work. A group previously adopted a spot called “Sarah’s Garden” in honor of a former staff member who passed away.
“Campus Beautification Day brings the University together to get involved every year to beautify our campus,” Kirlin said. “The event occurs every year, two days before Freshman Preview Day in April.”
