AUCC releases allocations; clubs can file appeals

This list indicates the amounts of money the AU Club Council will give to the clubs that applied for funding for the 2008-2009 academic year. Clubs that had budgets that were well organized and realistic got the most funding this year, according to Alexander Livingston, AUCC’s chairman.

“Budgets are a direct reflection on the leadership of an organization,” Livingston said.

AUCC required clubs to be competent in several areas, including past fundraising, overall success, longevity on campus and amount of AU’s population the club impacts, Livingston said.

Clubs will be welcome to appeal given budgets in the coming weeks, along with the assistance of Livingston and AUCC Vice Chair Benjamin Holt, Livingston said.

Associations such as the College Republicans presented a very clearly written budget, with speakers and events already planned and the funding for each event already determined, Livingston said.

Clubs must also meet the requirements of AU’s non-profit status, meaning that none of a club’s budget requests can contribute to the campaign of a political candidate, Holt said.

The budget decision process is completely fair and objective, according to Livingston.
