WHERE: Rock and Roll Hotel, 1353 H St. N.E.
INFO: Former Dismemberment Plan front man Travis Morrison is joined by a backing band in this launch party for Survivors and Advocates for Empowerment, an anti-domestic violence organization. Local bands Jukebox the Ghost and Ra Ra Rasputin round out the roster.

"Nosferatu"

WHERE: AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, Md.
INFO: German director F.W. Murnau's 1922 classic comes to life in the AFI's one-time showing of "Nosferatu." The screening of this silent horror film will be accompanied by live music and, presumably, scares galore.

D.C. Zombie Lurch

WHERE: Washington Monument, 15th Street and Constitution Avenue N.W.
INFO: Finally, someone is attempting to recreate the dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" with hordes of folks dressed up as zombies at the Washington Monument. Be sure to look your most undead because the night will end with a costume contest with prizes.

Tea with the Guerilla Girls
2 p.m., $25, reservations required
WHERE: National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave. N.W.
INFO: Come see gorillas (or what may very well be women in gorilla costumes) talk about sexism and racism in the art world. The event is part of the museum's exhibition "WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution."

Circle Takes the Square

INFO: Post-hardcore Georgians Circle Takes the Square bring their experimental sound to the Black Cat. We mean Georgia like the state. Like, state of the union, not nation-state.

High Heel Race

WHERE: 17th Street between Church and R streets N.W.
INFO: Everyone needs to stay in shape, and some people just happen to do it in style. Costumed drag queens (in heels, of course) will race through Dupont Circle in this neighborhood's pre-Halloween tradition.
