Police find stolen minibike associated with killing

D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said Friday that a minibike at the center of a controversial killing of a 14-year-old boy by police has been found and the FBI is analyzing it for clues, The Washington Post reported.
The boy, who was found with the bike, was fatally shot in the head when police confronted him.
The bike was allegedly stolen from the Southeast home of off-duty officer James Haskel who, along with another off-duty officer, approached DeOnté Rawlings, whom they saw on the bike, according to The Post.
NBC4.com reported Rawlings allegedly fired at the officers and ran. Haskel returned fire, striking Rawlings in the head. The gun Rawlings supposedly used has not been found, NBC4.com reported.
The FBI will handle the investigation because it involves D.C. officers, Mayor Adrian Fenty and Lanier told NBC4 at a press conference. They also encouraged witnesses and anyone with information to speak with authorities.
