Katie Koestner, the first date rape survivor to speak out about the subject openly and subject of an HBO film based on her experience, discusses what she refers to as "the worst time of her life." Koestner reminded the audience that one in four women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime, and stressed that it is the responsibility of men to say more often that rape is wrong and to not be silent about the issue. "Silence is for those who are afraid to ask the questions, because they are afraid to hear the answers,"Koestner said. She stressed that college students think more about what they can do to help stop rape. "Don't be afraid to stand alone for a cause," she said. "Eventually other people will stand with you." Koestner spoke last night in Bender Arena.
