Naomi Gale, author and AU professor, speaks about the violence women face in all parts of the world due in large part to an underlying sexual discrimination. "There is a lot of violence in the Western world, which is often more emotional than physical," she said. "This is because women are beginning to gain more power and roles are shifting." Gale said that while men also face domestic violence, women across the world are more often seen as inferior to men, from tribal regions of South America to developed Western nations. Gale lectured at a "Violence Against Women" series sponsored by the Department of Justice, Law and Society in SIS Lounge Monday night.
