The AU women's lacrosse team scored season-low four goals in its 15-4 defeat at Drexel on Tuesday. The loss ends the Eagles' regular season record at 8-8 overall, 3-2 in the PL, as the team prepares for the league tournament that starts on Friday against Lehigh.

The Eagles' were able to jump out to the early lead four minutes into the match on a goal by Jackie Lane to give the team the 1-0 advantage.

AU's only lead of the day would be short-lived, as the Dragons scored two quick tallies to take control 2-1.

Kira Sonberg's goal at the 20:47 mark retied the game up at two but this would be as close as the Eagles got all game,

Drexel took over the match by going on a 7-0 run over the final twenty minutes of the first half to take a 9-2 lead into the break. Gwenna Johnson, Kerry Kelly and Katie Lawson all scored twice for Drexel during this stretch.

The Dragons came into the second half exactly how the team exited the first, going on 5-0 run in the first 12 minutes of play, part of an overall 12-0 Dragon run that saw the lead increase from 3-2 to 14-2.

AU finally found the back of the net again at the 11:21 mark on consecutive goals by Caitlin Bell and Stefanie D'Andrea to make it a 14-4 game. However, this would be too little too late as Drexel cruised to a 15-4 win.

Drexel's Emily Hoesch, Gwenna Johnson and Kerry Kelly led all scorers with three goals apiece. For the Eagles, Lane, Sonberg, Bell and D'Andrea all had one tally each.

The Eagles will look to put this game behind them when the team enters the Patriot League semifinals against Lehigh at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. The match will be played in Worcester, Mass., home of the regular season champion Holy Cross Crusaders.
