The parents of a woman who was killed in a crash involving actress-singer Brandy asked for $50 million in damages in a wrongful death suit against the artist on Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.

The suit, which was filed on behalf of Aboudihaj Ahmed and Labridi Zohra in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleged that Brandy was driving recklessly on Dec. 30, 2006. Brandy's Land Rover then rear-ended a Honda driven by their 38-year-old daughter, Awatef Aboudihaj. Aboudihaj's car then hit another car before crashing into the freeway's center divider. The Honda was then struck by another car. Aboudihaj later died at a hospital from blunt-force injuries, according to the AP.

Brandy, 27, has publicly expressed remorse for Aboudihaj's death in the past. The lawsuit came one day after the California Highway Patrol recommended that the Grammy Award-winning singer and "Moesha" star be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, according to the AP.
