Robbery occurs at Greenberg Theater, AU Alert sent out

As of 8:47 p.m, all officers are gone from the crime scene, according to a Crime Alert sent out.

Students should not approach the suspect if he is seen, but are advised to call 911 or the Department of Public Safety’s emergency line, according to the Alert.

The Metropolitan Police Department dusted for fingerprints at the scene, according to Amy Deavers, a dispatcher in Public Safety.

The suspect is in his 30s and weighed around 180 pounds, according to Metropolitan Police Department Officer Hugh Carew.

He took unidentified property from the female victim, according to Carew. The victim has not been identified as an AU student.

An unarmed robbery occurred at the Greenberg Theatre, according to an AU Alert sent at 7:44 p.m.

The theater is located on 4200 Wisconsin Ave., NW, according to the alert. Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Public Safety were on scene when the alert was sent out.

The suspect, who fled on foot, was a 5-foot-7 black male, wearing a olive puff jacket, Public Safety tweeted. He had a dark complexion and a mustache, the tweet said.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation at the moment,” Maralee Csellar, associate director of AU media relations, said in an email.
